Invite-only alpha
Download EchoNote
For invited alpha testers. Your invite email has a personal link that unlocks the download.
Open this page from the link in your invite email.
EchoNote is signed and notarized by Apple, and it updates itself, so this is the only download you need.
What you'll need
- A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later)
- 16 GB of RAM or more
- About 10 GB of free disk space for the models
- macOS 12 (Monterey) or later
Not part of the alpha: Intel Macs and Windows.
Install
Five steps, then let it read.
- 1
Open the download.
Double-click the .dmg file in your Downloads folder.
- 2
Drag EchoNote into Applications.
Then eject the disk image.
- 3
Open EchoNote from Applications.
macOS may ask if you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Click Open.
- 4
Find EchoNote in your menu bar.
Echo introduces itself and sets you up in a short conversation: who matters to you, and how chatty it should be.
- 5
Connect Google.
Use one of the Google accounts you gave us. You will see a "Google hasn't verified this app" screen. That's expected; here's how to get past it.
Then give it some time
On first run, EchoNote downloads its AI models (several GB). Then it reads your mail and documents in the background. On a big mailbox the first sync can take a few hours. Echoes start showing up after that.
Connecting Google
"Google hasn't verified this app"
You'll see this screen during the alpha. It's expected.
Google reviews apps that read Gmail and Drive before it lets anyone use them. EchoNote is still in that process, so for now Google lets in only the people on our tester list, and shows this warning to them.
To continue: click Advanced, then Go to EchoNote (unsafe). Then allow the read-only permissions EchoNote asks for.
If Google won't let you continue, the email you're signing in with probably isn't on the tester list yet. Email support with the address you're using.
Google hasn't verified this app
The app is requesting access to sensitive info in your Google Account…
Continue only if you understand the risks and trust the developer…
Go to EchoNote (unsafe) 2You'll reconnect Google about once a week
While EchoNote is in Google's testing mode, Google ends the sign-in every 7 days. When that happens, EchoNote asks you to reconnect. Sign in again with the same Google account, past the same screen as above. This goes away once Google finishes verifying EchoNote.
