Privacy Policy

Everything stays on your Mac.

Effective October 27, 2026

EchoNote is a private assistant that runs on your Mac. The AI models, the search index and your data all stay on your computer. EchoNote has no server that stores your email, documents or messages. This policy explains exactly what EchoNote reads, the few things that leave your Mac, and how to delete everything.

EchoNote is made by Echonote, LLC ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy: erik@echonoteapp.ai.

What EchoNote reads

EchoNote reads, on your Mac, the sources you connect:

  • Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Google Contacts, through Google sign-in
  • Local files and folders you choose
  • Apple Messages (iMessage and SMS on your Mac), if you give EchoNote Full Disk Access. This is optional.
  • Meeting notes that AI notetakers (for example Fathom, Otter or Fireflies) send you by email, picked up from Gmail

All access is read-only. EchoNote never sends email, edits documents, changes calendars or writes to any account.

Google user data

When you connect a Google account, EchoNote requests these read-only scopes, and uses each only for the purpose listed:

ScopeWhat it's used for
gmail.readonlyRead email to find replies owed, commitments, meeting notes
drive.readonlyRead documents so Echo can find and cite them
calendar.readonlyRead events for meeting prep and "tomorrow / next week" Echoes
contacts.readonlyRecognize people and match them across email and texts
userinfo.email, userinfo.profileIdentify which Google account is connected

EchoNote requests your own data from Google's APIs. The data comes down to your Mac and is stored and processed only there. Echonote, LLC does not receive, store or transfer your Google data.

EchoNote's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • No advertising. Google user data is not used for advertising.
  • No sale. Google user data is not sold.
  • No training. Google user data is not used to train AI models. EchoNote's models are pre-trained and run locally, and they are not trained on your data.
  • No human reading. No human at Echonote, LLC reads your Google user data.

What leaves your Mac

This is the complete list.

SupabaseOnly when the user types a message in "Send Feedback" and presses SendThat message, plus an optional contact the user enters, app version and platform

Never sent anywhere: email, document, message or calendar content; contacts; questions typed to Echo; Echo's answers; anything Echo learns about the user.

The sharing switches

Two switches in EchoNote's Settings share information with us. Both are off by default, and you can turn either off again at any time.

Feedback sharing

When this is on and you give an answer a thumbs up or thumbs down, EchoNote sends that rating to EchoNote's feedback database (Supabase), plus metadata: the model used, retrieval similarity scores, the number of documents used, the app version and your platform. The question text is never sent.

How Echoes are doing, anonymously

When this is on, EchoNote sends Echo type ids, bucket names and whole-number counts, plus a random install ID created when you turn it on. It never sends a name, document, message text or fact.

Send Feedback

Send Feedback is not a switch. It sends something only when you type a message and press Send: that message, plus an optional contact you enter, the app version and your platform.

If you'd like us to delete feedback you've already sent, email erik@echonoteapp.ai and we'll delete it.

Where your data is stored

All of EchoNote's data lives in your home folder on your Mac. Google sign-in tokens are kept in the macOS Keychain.

Deleting your data

  • Factory Reset. In EchoNote, open Settings and choose Factory Reset. It deletes EchoNote's local data and settings and revokes EchoNote's Google access.
  • Remove Google access anytime. You can remove EchoNote's access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  • Uninstalling. Run Factory Reset first to remove your data and revoke Google access, then quit EchoNote and delete the app.

This website

If you request an invite, the form sends us your name, your email, the Google accounts you'll connect (up to three), your Mac model, chip and memory, what you'll mainly use EchoNote for and why you want to try it, and your consent to be contacted. We store it in our signup database, email a copy to ourselves, and use it only to run the alpha: to decide on invites, to add your Google accounts to Google's tester list, to email you your invite and personal download link, and to contact you about EchoNote. We don't sell it or use it for advertising. Email erik@echonoteapp.ai to have it deleted.

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or ad trackers. Our web host keeps standard server logs. The download page remembers your personal download link in your browser, so it still works if you come back without it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date.
